Floating and Docking

To Float

There are two main methods of floating a pane.

  • Move the pane such that no area of the program window is highlighted blue at the moment the mouse button is released.
  • Select Float maximized from the pane menu ( pmen ).

When “floated,” the pane is fully detached from the main window of the program, and may be operated independently of it.

To Dock

A floated window can be docked (that is, returned to a state of being attached within the main program window) as follows.

  • move the pane within the main program window to a position that will cause it to dock on completion of the move (dockable positions are highlighted blue during this operation).
  • select Dock from the pane menu ( pmen ).
