contact apply-group command

Syntax

contact <sprocess> apply-group <keyword> <range>

Primary keywords:

body    body-slot    group    piece-slot    slot

Apply contact group names to contacting pieces or bodies. Use of the group logic is described in Groups. This command allows one to apply contact group names to pieces by default (i.e., to balls, clump pebbles and wall facets). Use the body keyword to apply the contact groups names to bodies (i.e., to balls, clumps, and walls). All contacts within range are traversed and, if a group name exists in the specified slot (see the slot keyword to change from the default contact slot), it is applied to the pieces or bodies at the end of the contact in the specified slot. By default, the piece or body slot is the same as the contact slot. This can be modified with the piece-slot or body-slot keywords. If a piece or body has multiple contacts with varying group names in the specified contact slot, the last contact group name is applied. The group keyword can be given to restrict application the a single contact group name.

By default, only mechanical contacts are considered. If sprocess is specified, then it must correspond to a process name and contacts within this process are considered.
