# block.gp.disp

Syntax

v := block.gp.disp(bgpp)
block.gp.disp(bgpp) := v

Get/set the gridpoint displacement.

Note that in 3DEC, displacement vectors are accumulated from velocities and timesteps every cycle. They have no direct effect on the model state. Displacements can be changed at any time without changing the forces or stresses in the model.

Returns:

v - displacement vector

Accepts:

v - displacement vector

Arguments:

bgpp - block gridpoint pointer

Component Access

f := block.gp.disp (bgpp)->x
block.gp.disp (bgpp)->x := f

f := block.gp.disp.x(bgpp)
block.gp.disp.x(bgpp) := f

Get/set the $$x$$-component of the gridpoint displacement.

Returns:

f - $$x$$-component of the gridpoint displacement vector

Accepts:

f - $$x$$-component of the gridpoint displacement vector

Arguments:

bgpp - block gridpoint pointer

Access other vector components ($$y$$, $$z$$) by substituting the component name where $$x$$ appears above. See Member Access Operator for information about accessing members from data types using ->.

Deprecated Component Access

Component access by adding an optional integer in the function arguments (block.gp.disp(bgpp,<int>)) is deprecated. It remains available but will not be supported in future versions. See Component Access with Integers in FISH on the Deprecated Commands and FISH page for details.

This is hidden. Added to include remaining vector component access functions for inline help.

f := block.gp.disp.y(bgpp)
f := block.gp.disp.z(bgpp)
