The State Record

Overview

The State Record in the Commands area tracks the input that has created the current model state. Some or all of its contents may be copied and pasted elsewhere as needed, or saved as a new file in either record file format or data file format. If the current model state is part of an existing save file, the name of the file is shown in the pane title bar.

There are two parts to the State Record. The “State Record” portion (top) lists the commands that have created the present model state. The “Input Files” portion (bottom) lists the input files that have been used in the process of arriving at the present model state.

State Record Panel

The command listing here does not expand the commands contained within a program call-ed data file — a called 1000-line data file will appear as a single-line program call command in this view. Output here will likely use the optional line keyword with the program call command to follow a single or nested program call command(s) to track the command path that creates the current state. See the program call command reference information for an explanation of how the line keyword is used. The contents of this view may be copied or saved using the tools available on the toolbar.

Input Files Panel

This view tabulates the files that have been called or imported to create the current model state. Unless sorted, the panel will show files in the order that they are used — reflected by the first column (“Order”) on the table. Columns for file name, date, and size also appear. The list can be sorted in ascending or descending order of any column by clicking the column’s heading.

Indicator Icons

The icons in Input Files communicate state information about the file listed, according to the following legend.

Open, Unchanged

Item is open and unchanged since it was used to create the current model state.

Open, Changed

Item is open and has changed since it was used to create the current model state.

Closed, Unchanged

Item is closed and unchanged since it was used to create the current model state.

Closed, Changed

Item is closed and has changed since it was used to create the current model state.

Broken

Link broken; the file cannot be found at its location as currently recorded in the project.

If a file has been modified since it was used to create the current model state (indicated above by the two states that show a red dot), there is no assurance it may be used, at this point, to reproduce the current model state.
