contact persist
command
Syntax
- contact persist bval <keyword> <range>
Primary keywords:
Set the contact persistence flag. The contact persistence flag is set according to the value of the boolean bval. If set to “on,” the contact will not be deleted in spite of any relative motion between the contacting pieces. If one piece is deleted, though, the contact is deleted regardless of the persistence flag state.
By default, only mechanical contacts are considered.
Note
The persist flag is off by default. If one sets the persistence flag to “on” for contacts belonging to processes other than the mechanical process, then the persistence flag of the corresponding mechanical contact is also turned on, because mechanical contacts must persist with corresponding (e.g., between the same pieces) contacts from different processes.
- mechanical
Apply to mechanical contacts.
- thermal
Apply to thermal contacts.
Usage Example
contact persist on
