zone.face.normal
Syntax
- v := zone.face.normal(z,iside)
Note
- In the description below, the following correspondence is assumed between 3D and 2D analysis:
3D zone faces (surfaces) <-> 2D zone edges (lines)
Get the normal to the face, facing outward from zone z.
Component Access
f := zone.face.normal
(z)->x
- f := zone.face.normal.x(z,iside)
Get the \(x\)-component of the normal to the face, facing outward from zone z.
Access other vector components (\(y\), \(z\) (3D ONLY)) by substituting the component name where \(x\) appears above. See Member Access Operator for information about accessing members from data types using ->
.
Deprecated Component Access
Component access by adding an optional integer in the function arguments (zone.face.normal(z,<int>)
) is deprecated. It remains available but will not be supported in future versions. See Component Access with Integers in FISH on the Deprecated Commands and FISH page for details.
