Beam Structural Elements
Note that beam structural elements are based on the Beam-Type Structural Elements and share the underlying formulation and implementation.
Mechanical Behavior
The mechanical behavior of each beam structural element can be divided into the structural response of the beam material itself (see Beam-Type Mechanical Behavior), and the way in which the beam element interacts with the grid. Beam elements may be rigidly connected to the grid such that stresses develop within the beam as the grid deforms. However, more generalized grid connections are available with pile elements.
Response Quantities
Beam element responses include force and moment vectors that act at the end of each beam element (see Beam-Type Response Quantities).
Properties
Each beam element has constitutive model properties and Beam-Type Properties.
FLAC3D Examples
Simple examples are given to illustrate the use of beams. This list is incomplete; a complete list of examples that use beam elements is available in Structural Beam Examples.
FLAC2D Examples
Simple examples are given to illustrate the use of beams.
